New Henley album?
« on: August 29, 2009, 06:37:00 PM »
I know his stuff moves in glacial time, but it HAS been 8 years since the last solo Henley album...and at THAT time it seemed as if it had been an eternity...though before we know it will be equidistant between EOI and the current day.  I"m skeptical that at this late date we're going to get anything that was as good as his first three albums, but whatever he puts out, I'm sure there will be a decent market for it and at the very least the quality standards will be high.

I think Henley has said that he has two more to put out.  At the rate he's going, his next one will be out in a few years and then another when he turns 73. At which point he'll tell us he grew up a lot between 65 and 73 and that it's reflected in his music.   ;)

Seriously, any word of new stuff on the horizon?  The earth's horizon, that is.

Don has been working on new material.  I think it's even mostly finished.  I think finding time to release it is now the question.

His last in-depth interview he gave to 'The Onion' said something about taking some time after the LROE tour to do research for his concept double album on the conspiracy between the print media conglomerates and the eye-glasses industry to keep senior citizens from getting informed properly. Joe Walsh considered selling his old album title 'But seriously Folks' to Don for the matter.

If I'd written Newswwek or Billboard somebody might have really stuck to it. But as most of the people on this forum are from the US, the Onion is pretty much known. So I thought I'd use their name ...

But some newspaper guys in India (or that area anyway) were not familiar with The Onion and took an article from their website about Neil Armstrong admitting he never really landed on the moon serious and spread that in their papers. More fodder for Henley's complaints about the internet.

Yes indeed, and Don even wrote a song about it: 'Talking to the moon' ...

I hope it's better than IJ.

Sorry folks, but with the exception of a few songs, I do not like that cd.  I tried.   :-[

I'm with you on that one!  I love Don, but not this album.

Judging by Henley's stuff on Long Road Out Of Eden his next album will be closer to Inside Job than I'd like.

Once he's said his piece on all the ills of the world I'm sure another classic collection of songs awaits, he just needs to get all that out of his system.

Don's voice is always a joyous sound whatever he's singing/spouting.

I like the first half of inside job then it goes down hill very rapidly and then ends on probably my favourite song of the album, My Thanksgiving.

For me with extreme rose tinted Eagles glasses on I would give it a 5.5/6 out of ten, not a big fan and definatley imo one of the weaker solo album efforts.

I remember getting Inside Job for my birthday in 2006 and I've loved it ever since. I've said all along and I still say that it's a very underrated album in my opinion. There are some beautifully written, meaningful, and rocky songs on it that I can't get enough of. Oh and did I mention the cover is amazingly hot?  :laughing7:
