Great find Pawmuk!  The only one so far that I'm unsure about is Funk 50. We know he recorded it
For ESPN, but I don't think it's been confirmed for inclusion on the album. I find it strange that nobody in the press has mentioned it since it relates so directly to a past hit. Could it be that it's not on the album?

I have my doubts about Funk #50 too Monstertone.

I suppose Funk #50 is more likely to be one of the James Gang projects. I'm sure Dale and Jim would've been a little bit miffed at Joe recording it without them, after all, both Funk #48 and Funk #49 were James Gang jams.

Funk #50 was, from memory, one of the earliest mentioned titles, maybe that's what led to the recent James Gang recording sessions. As you say Monstertone,  it's almost unthinkable that Funk #50 would be on Analog Man and being completely overlooked by the music press but then again, I'm sure the record company would want Funk #50 to be on the album to draw a bit of publicity to the album.

Maybe Funk #50 will turn up on the special deluxe version of Analog Man

If the James Gang have recorded Funk #50,  I still hope I get to hear the original Walsh solo version, plus Joe's non eagles version of Last Good Time In Town,  I'm sure it exists somewhere .... then there's that unreleased album from 1999...... ::)

Thanks yet again Pawmuk.   :icon_thumright:

I still think it's really strange nobody has mentioned Funk 50 in the press. I hope it's not because it's underwhelming.  I really like the snippett played on ESPN.  In fact, I would anticipate it being a single if it is even halfway decent in the lyrics department.  How could rock radio not play Funk 50?

US Radio presenter and big Walsh fan, David Wild, who has obviously already got a copy of Analog Man >:(

has told of a 7 minute track that closes the album, that features The James Gang jamming with Little Richard providing lead vocals.

We know India (The Sound Of Irving) is an instrumental, so the track Wild talks about must be an unlisted extra.

It could've been recorded when they did the Drew Carey show together but most likely it's from the late 60s, early 70s.

With this and Funk 50 on Analog Man, I can see why Joe spent a couple of days recording with The James Gang last month.

I can't forget Joe's little anecdote about Little Richard during that amazing live James Gang Reunion podcast back in 2000 or 2001.  "Little Richard wanted to ball me.... but he wanted to ball everybody."

(just to clarify, according to Google, "to ball" in american slang means, amongst lots of censored definitions, to have intercourse)  :laughing7:

Until I hear it, I've decided "Having A Ball (with Little Richard)" would make a good monicker for said track. :-*

Sorry to lower the tone :-[ :laughing7:

"Lordy! Lordy!" The Analog Man news gets even better!

There is to be two bonus tracks on the expanded edition of Analog Man.  The 7 minute James Gang/Little Richard jam, plus a, so far, undesclosed track...

I'm pretty sure I read, somewhere on a Walsh web trawl, yesterday that Jeff Lynne is to be interviewed in the near future but I lost the links ::)

Checking the woderfully awesome "A Jeff Lynne and Related Blog"

http://unofficialjefflynne.blogspot.co.uk/

I didn't find out anything about the interview but a site comment polishes off the Analog Man track listing questions.

As Joe rarely includes song lyrics on his album sleeve notes, I've become a compulsive Walsh lyric writer or should that be transcriber.

There's always the odd line I struggle with.  I can't make head nor tail of this one:

And The Band Played On (Tommy Lee James & Joseph Fidler Walsh)

(featuring Joe on sitar by the sound of it 8))

Look out my window see a world that's on fire
Some people think that we should just let it burn
with all this ignorance the flames just get higher…. Higher

All of these people with their misinformation
must be the truth if it's a blog on the screen ….
we got to buy it it's the latest creation

Too many icebergs out on the ocean
Too many chances to sink like a stone
The great titanic about to go under
and the band played on

Guess everybody needs a new pair of glasses
a lot of shit out there nobody can see
Yeah everybody's got their heads up their asses

We're all out here dead in the water
We got a leak in the boat
We're all up shit creak without a paddle
just trying to stay afloat

(guitar solo)

We're all out here dead in the water
We got a leak in the boat
We're up shit creak without any paddle
just trying to stay afloat

Too many icebergs out on the ocean
Too many chances to sink like a stone
The great titanic about to go under
and the band played on

and the band played …
and the band played on

Anybody any ideas?

Song Pemiere;

The song that seems to be attracting the most attention;

Joe Walsh - Lucky That Way

http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2012/05/song-premiere-joe-walsh---lucky-that-way.html

...and some lyrics I prepared earlier ;)

Lucky That Way (I think it was written by Tommy & Joe)

I'm not saying that I'm something special
but you might know my name to some degree

sometimes I can't believe that I'm still standing
and it feels pretty good to be me

I get to live out here in California
I got a palm tree and a swimming pool

have some fun and try to play my music
was all I really set out to do

and when anybody asks me Joe how do you do it
'cause you do it with such style and grace
I just shake my head and smile
look 'em in the eyes and say..
I'm just Lucky That Way
Just Lucky

Got a good woman and she makes me happy
most of the time I make her happy too
we decided we should live together
so we both said "I do"

and when someone says "Hey Joe I saw you on tv
and how do you know what to play?"
I just shake my head and smile
look 'em in the eyes and say..
I'm just Lucky That Way

I started in the middle of nowhere
I didn't have far to fall
and the times I thought were the end of the world
didn't turn out so bad after all

(guitar solo)

I started in the middle of nowhere
I didn't have far to fall
and the times I thought were the end of the world
didn't turn out so bad after all

I'll let you all in on a little secret
if I can share with you a thing or two
If you just act like you know what you're doin'
Everybody thinks that you do

and when anybody asks me Joe how do you do it
'cause you do it with such style and grace
I just shake my head and smile
look 'em in the eyes and say..
I'm just Lucky, I'm just Lucky, I'm just Lucky That Way
I'm just Lucky That Way
I'm Just Lucky

For those who took an early sneak peak, I must say "Hi-Roller Baby" is my favorite song.

Thanks for the lyrics, it's always tricky to figure out what he's saying sometimes.

Wow! I like it a lot. 'Lucky That Way' is really good and thanks for posting the link. Now, I really cannot wait for this album to come out already!

I must say "Hi-Roller Baby" is my favorite song.

I can't make much sense of the lyrics (I reckon I'm pretty close :dontknow: ) carvinrocks2 but Hi Roller Baby definitely has something.  I love a chorus that doesn't rhyme ;D

Hi Roller Baby

Hi roller baby come on and take a chance on me
Hi roller baby come on and take a chance on me

the days of summer are almost over
let me know what you decided
let me know if you  never tried it
you can go if you don't like it
but if you want to gamble
you can always throw the dice

Hi roller baby come on and take a chance on me
Hi roller baby, be good be good, just you and I

It's a hustle yeah you got your stories
you say you're old and you're 25
it's a dirty world but you're not frightened
your so sure you're so enlightened
but you see something in my eyes
that you've never seen before

Hi roller baby come on and take a chance on me
Hi roller baby, be good be good, just you and I

You can laugh with your friends
when you see me walk by try to fool me
come on honey yeah ya like ya money but ya
cash flow can't keep you warm at night

Hi roller baby, Hi roller baby,
come on and take a chance on me tonight
Hi roller baby, be good be good, just you and I

Listening again to the original sub-minute version of Funk 50.   I prefer the bop bops to the lyrics Joe came up with. They remind me of Fun and Big, Big Country.  I really dig that needle on vinyl opening too :icon_thumleft:

I think Hi-Roller Baby would make a nice music video. Band Played On should be performed live.

I wonder if he'll ever release another album. Timothy back on the boat working on another one after Expando gives me hope that they'll all get back on the horse and put out something every 2 years, with the Eagles producing at least one more album...
