Danny Kortchmar Spotting On TV
« on: June 12, 2010, 11:20:15 PM »
My dad was watching a Carole King/James Taylor concert on TV tonight - which btw was pretty fantastic - when Taylor announced a familiar face onstage. It was none other than the "Kootch"! I must say he played an awesome solo on "It's Too Late". Just thought I'd share. Certainly put a big smile on my face. He's played with some huge artists that's for sure!  :notworthy:

Taylor and King were recently out here and they say it was fantastic...they have vowed to return :) we'll see, I think she's in her late 60's. I tried to get tickets but could only get the nose bleed.

They're coming to my town on June 28th. There's a lot of talk and publicity about it.  :)

I saw that concert on TV here about a week or so ago, great show.

Cindy, go see James Taylor if you can. I saw him in London's O2 last year and he was fantastic..

Saw the JT/CK show when it hit St. Louis last July. In addition to Kooch, Russ Kunkel and Lee Sklar were also part of the band. Except for the impossibly rude group of drunken a-holes, it was a moving musical experience. During Carole's performances, I began asking myself "is she possibly the best American songwriter of her generation? Ahead of folks like Bob Dylan and Brian Wilson?"  And JT always puts on a stellar performance having seen him in 2004 (on the Vote for Change Tour w/ the Dixie Chicks) and again in '05 at the New Orleans Jazz Fest.

If you enjoy JT & CK, you can get the "Live at the Troubadour" DVD which is similar (or the same) as their recent tour.  It's quite good.
