Life on Mars
« on: February 05, 2009, 04:54:22 PM »
Anybody out there watch the American version of the TV show "Life on Mars"?

Well it's set in the year 1973 and it's a detective/cop show and one of the main characters on it, named Ray, looks quite a bit like Glenn circa the '70s!

Here's a pic of Ray, played by Michael Imperioli. Take a look for yourself:

Good show by the way!!  :)

I don't watch the show, but I have seen the resemblance between Glenn and Michael Imperioli in commercials and print ads.  Uncanny!  I laugh every time I see that character.

Wow, that's an uncanny resemblance to a younger Glenn. I wonder if they know each other?

I know that Joe Vitale pronounced Glenn and honorary Italian, but does anyone know his actual ethnicity? I always thought there must be some Italian in the mix - what do you guys think/know?

Ethnicity and pedigree have always fascinated me, maybe because I'm such a mongrel myself. I love trying to guess national/ethnic/racial origins and for reasons that have always escaped me, some folks are offended by it  :dontknow:.

I watch Life on Mars and I do see the resemblance between Glenn and Michael Imperioli.  They say everyone has a twin, right?

They say everyone has a twin, right?

My husband Roy and I were on holiday in  Portugal in the 80's and there sitting on a bench by the harbour was his twin - really weird experience  :laughing7:

I had one in the 70's - she was older than me and by all accounts having a great time. People would come up to me and tell where they'd seen me on such and such a day or night when I'd been nowhere near the places in question  :sign10:

My twin is actually Chelsea Clinton - even though she's several years younger than me. People used to do double takes with me all the time when Clinton was president.

At first glance I see the resemblance, but if not for the droopy mustache I don't think their faces actually look alike.

As to other Glenn look-alikes I see my avatar quite often as he works at Whole Foods.  I nearly tripped over the salad bar the first time I saw him!

As to twins I had one in high school.  We were good friends.  WE didn't see the resemblance but people mistook us for each other all the time.

I always thought that Scott Bakula also bears a slight resemblance to Glenn.  As for his heritage, other than the fact that he has Irish lineage on his mother's side, it is not really public knowledge.  I'd say Italian is a possibility.

Scott Bakula does resemble Glenn, or vice/versa (who's older?). More or less the same 'type', but Glenn's waaaay hotter IMHO  :D. Didn't know about the Irish from his mom, but that sure explains the devilish side of his personality  ;D ;D - headin' for cover now!!

Jorja - also part Irish

Scott is younger.  He was born in either 1954 or 55.  Ironically, he shares a birthday with Jackson Browne.
Quantum Leap is still my all time favorite show (okay--not counting South of Sunset) and my favorite episodes generally include Scott with his shirt off at some point during the episode.  The 'Man of La Mancha' episode is another favorite.  That guy can SING.

I remember that episode! So that was actually Scott singing and not dubbed? Wow, I'm impressed!

Yes I remember Glenn saying on his live in Dublin video something like his grandmother/grandparents on his mother's side are from Ireland

Ok, I finally watched this show.  It's pretty good!  I did notice that "Ray" looks quite a bit like Glenn from a distance.  In the episode I watched he was in the background standing in a phone booth and it did look like 70's Glenn standing there.  However, when he opened his mouth and that New York accent came out the moment was lost.  Is that Michael Imperioli's real accent?  It sounds a bit overdone to be real, imo!

I've seen Michael Imperioli in other shows like Law & Order and The Sopranos and he always seems to have that New York accent.  Then again, all of these shows took place in New York/New Jersey.
