Eagles Live!! / Re: History of the Eagles Tour

$1250 is completely ridiculous.  I don't get it.  It's not like they are in their prime handing out 3E buttons to the cute girls in the front row.  Why would anybody want a view of their nose hair from those front row seats? I saw them two or three years ago, we paid 100 for our seats. They were on the first row of the upper level center.  Nobody in front of us so we had a completely unobstructed view.  I don't plan on seeing them again, but if they do come to this area, I may just play around for the heck of it bringing up tickets to see if anything good comes up. But if the set list is Henley/Walsh solo heavy, I will take a pass.

Timmy's vocal problems are a terrible blow to his burgeoning solo career but there's enough technical wizardry around to keep his Eagles harmonies up to scratch.

If it comes down to that....it's time to quit.

2) Felder is an appalling singer, the idea of him singing lead is a joke if you want to be in a world class band. If he wanted to sing, do a solo thing or a side band. Henley was absolutely right on this one.

I would hardly say that Felder is an "appalling singer".  He is just the weakest vocally of the group.  Henley's voice is unique, Randy's special, I like Bernie's, it's pleasant.  Glenn's is, in my opinion, ordinary.  But since he writes the songs, he gets to sing them.

If Timothy is not singing any of his lead Eagle songs, how can he manage a full show doing back-up vocals?  His vocals are a pretty important part of their sound.  Is he going to be mouthing the words to a dead mic and playing bass while one of the other hired hands takes over his vocals?

Yay JD!  I voted for him and Holly Knight.  My other choices of Buckingham/McVie/Nicks, Termperton, and BB King didn't make it.

I find a big difference between performing an unknown song by a little known songwriter to covering a hit song by a well-known, established group/performer.

I would hope that they would just stop performing altogether before they ever started doing covers.

Previous Lineups / Re: Don Felder

Excuse me for hurting your feelings Robbie, but I would think that a member of a message board for a band would at least know how to spell the member's name correctly while insulting one of said band's former members.

And excuse me again, "unpleasant, rude". This is just the sort of behaviour that I seem to come across in any discussion where Don Felder is mentioned. Face it ladies, there are MANY people out there that believe that Don and Glenn are, shall I just politely say; "unpleasant and rude" in regards to their behaviour towards Randy, Bernie and Don Felder. The big settlement that was awarded Mr. Felder and shrouded in secrecy was not awarded to him just because some judge "hated" the Eagles. It was wrongful termination and he deserved to have them cough up a boat load of money.

I expect his solo album to be received on "Eagle" message boards as well as his book was. His vocals will be criticized for sure, when actually, his vocals are not that bad. At least he didn't regurgitate up a bunch of covers in an overly engineered and sickly slick album that was recently released by a former band mate. And what is it that Henley is working on at the moment?

Like it or not, Randy, Bernie and Felder were all members of this band in their heyday. Most of the songs that are heard over the airwaves in this day are ones with the imprint of those two founding members and the man they made the fifth partner.

Joe is having success with his latest solo attempt, and I hope that Don Felder has a good run with his when it's released.

Must be nice to know Don Felder well enough to think that this song is about Henley and that would be Frey, not "Frye".  Or to have psychic abilities and reach into his mind to discover this tidbit.  Or is it in the liner notes on the album maybe?  "Written for and dedicated to Don and Glenn".

I always get a kick out of Felder hate.

Nobody in this band (aside from Randy ;) ) is perfect.

Isn't he the guy that walked out on Poco before they had released a record and then they replaced him on the album cover with a dog.

Obviously Randy found working with Glenn and Don a lot more satisfying than coping with the egos of Furey, Young and Messina. Turned out to be a lot more rewarding too :laughing7:

Perhaps you missed the little winking smilie.

And since this thread has turned into an "I have more education than you" topic.  You can have all the education in the world.  It doesn't necessarily make you smart.

I do look forward to a documentary, although since Frey and Henley are pulling all the strings, I personally feel that it will be sterile and bland and anything unflattering in regard to the puppet masters will be painted over like graffiti.

Let's forget about Felder for a moment, nobody wants to see the backstage brawl between him and Frey at Long Beach being fought out again onstage, do we?

I WOULD pay big money to see THAT!  ;)

I don't come here often as there is never much thread movement, but this like most other "Eagles" message boards is really no more than Frey/Henley shrines of worship.  Say what you will about Felder, trash him to the sky and it's good, but don't go after Frey or Henley.  Nobody in this band (aside from Randy ;) ) is perfect.  But it just seems that there is too much press out there, even if the owner's of these shrines cry foul on their credibility, that paints a pretty unflattering picture of Frey and Henley.

I think that is a good result.  I would have chosen CCR over Skynyrd.  I am actually surprised that The Eagles made it that far.  Many people have a hard time thinking of them as a "Rock" band.

Why are we skirting the obvious issue here?  Glenn Frey again has a conflict with another band member...this time Walsh.  Leadon quit after feuding with Frey as did Meisner.  Felder had conflict with Frey and he was fired.  Frey is running out of members to argue with.  Maybe he will fire Walsh and bring in his kid to play guitar much like what occurred in Azoff's other act...Van Halen.  I have grown tired of the drama with this band.  I would have a lot of respect for both Henley and Frey if the welcomed back all former members, including Felder, for a one time concert in LA to celebrate their 40th.  They could make a DVD of the show and I am certain it would sell.

Hell will most definately freeze over before we see all those men on the same stage again.

A lot of American downloads etc are not available for those of us this side of the pond  ;D

If it's called "Troubadours; The rise of the Singer-Songwriter"  I bought the DVD and a CD came with it.
