Deep End / Henley and boomer politics -- liberal or conservative?
« on: June 21, 2011, 06:49:51 AM »
Long time reader first time poster... a friend of mine who is a grad student studying history at UCSD (San Diego) wrote an article recently that sort of poked fun at Don Henley, but also looked at the politics of his song lyrics and the Eagles in general. Henley's image seems to be pretty much that of a liberal baby boomer, although certain songs of the Eagles, like "Get Over It," seemed to be written from a kind of cranky conservative perspective that was in vogue in the 80s and 90s. It seems opportunistic in a way. Ryan doesn't mention that song in his article but I wonder what you guys think of the question -- did their politics get more conservative over the years, or more liberal?
